I love this because a) it’s a beautiful painting with a great message, b) it shows that Norman Rockwell was not always as “boring” and “safe” as a lot of people think he was with his artwork, and c) President Obama has this hanging by his office in the White House
Norman Rockwell, The Problem We All Live With, 1963
Rockwell did a series on racism for Look magazine, including a piece which dealt with the issue of school racial integration. The painting depicts a young African American girl, Ruby Bridges, flanked by white federal marshals, walking to school past a wall defaced by racist graffiti during the American Civil Rights struggle of the early 1960s. The painting is currently displayed in the West Wing of the White House, just outside President Obama’s Oval Office.

I understand too :) Thank you Sigma Lambda Gamma for preparing me for, literally, life
Ask someone successful the steps they took in order to get there.
In between those lines you will hear them tell you to do extensive research on the company you wish to grow with. Know what they do, what they are about, why they were established and by who, try to network with those who are currently there, etc etc. This not only helps you to form your own list of reasons why you even wish to be a part of this company, but it also gives you the guidance in coming up with ways to make it better IF you make it. And then, if you land the interview you are prepared to answer any questions they have—only proving that you genuinely want it. What is IT? To help them be the best in whatever it is they do.
But of course, before you make it to the top…you start at the bottom. Checking e-mails, making coffee, running errands, scheduling their flights, organizing their events and meetings… It’s not torture… it’s called discipline. Until one day, all your hard work is noticed and you begin to move up in the chain. THIS is called life.
Just a random thought while thinking of my sorority, Sigma Lambda Gamma. Only some of you will understand my point but Psi Beta knows exactly what this means.
Yes we do. Love this.
